Introduction to 3D Printing In-Person

Learn the basics of the 3D printing process with instructors Winifred King and Hayeem Rudy. You will discover resources for downloading models as well as tools for creating models of your own. We will discuss what physical attributes make a model suitable for printing using examples generated by the library’s MakerBot 3D printer. We will demonstrate how our printer has been used to reproduce surgical equipment and create anatomical models.

After this class, you will:

  •          Be able to describe the 3D printing process
  •          Be familiar with the strengths and limitations of the Library’s MakerBot
  •          Use websites on the 3D print guide to browse and select models suitable for printing
  •          Identify freely available programs that can be used to design models
